Police appeal for witnesses after Espoo fire

Western Uusimaa police have called for assistance from witnesses after a fire spread smoke across a large swathe of Espoo in the early hours of Thursday morning.

The blaze is believed to have initially broken out on the roof of the derelict AGA industrial property on Karapellontie in the Kera district shortly before 1:00 am.

Residents in the surrounding areas were urged to keep windows and doors closed due to smoke.

The Espoo Central Police Station, located just over a kilometre away, is also affected by the smoke and the department advised people to stay away from the facility unless they already had an appointment.

Police said no injuries have been reported, and that the incident is being investigated as a case of vandalism.
