Yle's latest party support poll suggests that the big two government parties have both lost support over the last month, with the Finns Party seeing a dip of two percentage points to 18 percent.

Three of the four government parties saw reductions in support, with only the Swedish People's Party seeing a small increase. The National Coalition topped the poll, despite a fall of 0.8 of a percentage point in its registered support.

The opposition Social Democratic Party remained in second place.

Fluctuations in support might be down to the presidential election campaign, according to Taloustutkimus research director Tuomo Turja.

"Maybe this shows that Finns Party support rose quite clearly in January," Turja said. "That might be a result of Jussi Halla-aho's relatively successful presidential election campaign, which activated the Finns Party base."

Turja noted that backing for the party had dropped among three voter demographics.

"The figures suggest that the Finns Party has lost support among men, workers and entrepreneurs," said Turja. "If we look at it regionally we would say that [the support loss is most evident from] southern Finland."

The opposition Centre Party has seen a 1.6 percentage point increase in support, to record 12.2 percent. That's up from 10.8 percent in Yle's previous poll and 11.3 percent in the 2023 Parliamentary election.
