The publication by audio streaming platform Spotify of its annual 'Wrapped' list on Wednesday showed that the popularity of Finnish music continues to grow.
The data revealed a 13 percent increase in plays within Finland for Finnish artists, the highest bump for domestic music among the five Nordic countries.
"Finnish music is alive and well, as the number of streams of Finnish music continues to grow year by year," Samuli Väänänen of Spotify Finland said.
Finland's most popular artist of the year was rapper Turisti, while the most listened to song of 2024 was pop star Mirella's hit Timanttei, which was played 28 million times.
Aside from claiming top spot, Mirella's name appears four more times in the list of top ten songs, and all of the top 10 most popular songs are by Finnish artists.
For the second year in a row, the world's most listened to artist is Taylor Swift, who was also the only non-Finnish musician to make it onto Finland's Top 10.
The world's most popular song this year was Espresso by Sabrina Carpenter, with about 1.6 billion listens.
Spotify publishes its Wrapped lists every December, revealing the year's individual listening preferences as well as trends from around the world, and the results tend to be widely posted on social media.
