Finnish consumer electronics retailer Verkkokauppa.com is planning to expand in Sweden, in a partnership with online retail behemoth Amazon.
The company's name Verkkokauppa (literally 'net shop'), will be shortened to Verk.com in Sweden, the company said in a press release. Otherwise, its branding will be the same as in Finland.
According to the its CEO, Panu Porkka, the company will offer a selection of more than 10,000 products in Sweden in the spring.
"The Amazon partnership will offer Verkkokauppa.com a unique opportunity to expand into the Nordics' largest market — cost effectively and very quickly, " Porkka said in the release.
Founded in 1992, Verkkokauppa.com has mostly operated in Finland. Last year, it started cooperation with the delivery company Wolt in Tallinn, Estonia. The firm has previously collaborated in Sweden with online retailer cdon.com.
Verkkokauppa.com is listed on the Nasdaq Helsinki stock exchange. Last year its revenue amounted to 468 million euros and the company employs about 600 people, according to the firm.
