Multiplicity 1996
A Don't Judge a Movie by Its Cover special! Seriously, that VHS cover art has haunted my 90s kid psyche well into adulthood. Inspired in part by my recent viewing of Bong Joon-ho’s anti-capitalist satire, Mickey 17, I decided to see just how many Michael Keaton clones I could endure in 2 hours, and the answer is....well, remember cloning?

Cristaux 1978
Crimson reds, translucent greens, and deep blues. Refracted lights. Tonguing the glass prism. Staring off into the middle distance.
A wedding veil or funeral gown? Limbs shadow dancing as the world caves in on itself. The low hum of distortion; echo-laden voices calling out, withdrawing, or just hoping to be witnessed. Flower petals cascading down like neon snow. Human touch is death. Human touch is resurrection. One of the rare pieces of art that captures the feeling of dissociation.

Grand Guignol splatter satire; an unrelenting assault of plunged needles, pus-filled orifices, yellow vomit, gushing buckets of blood, disemboweled organs, and prosthetic-heavy degeneration. A film that doesn't need to be subtle or nuanced given the subject matter; (unrealistic beauty standards, body dysmorphia, self-hatred, the sexualization and exploitation of women's bodies etc), but whose messaging eventually turns into comedic grotesquerie by the third act,…Translated from by -
A Complete Unknown 2024
I'm a fan of Bob Dylan. I appreciate the music. I even can understand the impetus in exposing a younger generation to his artistry. Still, I did not like this movie.
One of the central problems here is that Dylan's ethos has been diluted down to the very thing he’s spent his entire career resisting; a safe “product” meant for mass consumption that goes down like a lightly strummed Pete Seeger ballad. Sure, Timothée Chalamet looks and sounds the part…
