I really loved with Wim Wenders did with this documentary. Really showcasing both the music of Cuba and the people creating and performing the songs. This isn't a style of music I listen to regularly, but I can see passionate and dedicated musicians from a mile away. I loved the musical performances, but I really loved hearing the stories even more. This is definitely a documentary worth checking out.
Oh, and that behind the back laúd solo was so fucking badass.

Like every David Lean film I've seen so far, you have to admire the grandiose scale of it all and there are many elements of this that are a marvel. The cinematography, the production design, the costumes, that score. It really is a beautiful film to look at. Plus, this has some top-notch acting with the standouts to me being Omar Sharif, Julie Christie, and Tom Courtenay.

This can hit really close to home at times. But what makes it work as well as it does is its honesty in the story it's telling. Noah Baumbach does some really great work here with a wonderful Greta Gerwig performance, beautiful cinematography, and charming music.
