I don’t get the acclaim this one gets. It felt like a slog. Great acting, beautiful set design, shot exceptionally well, but boring as all get out.

In the Heat of the Night 1967
As relevant today as it was nearly 60 years ago. Holds up exceptionally well.
A phenomenal film. Beautifully written, directed, and performed. Casting was perfect. Steiger is a force. Portier is brilliant.
Coming from small town rural south, there’s charm in the town of Sparta. The characters are all similar to men and women I knew when I was young, especially the simpleton racists depicted in this film.

The Keep 1983
The soundtrack for this film is amazing.
Somewhere in the vaults is a glorious version of this movie. People love this film regardless of its many flaws and I get it - the style, the pacing, the amazing soundtrack, the all star 80s cast. It’s all there to be great. The cuts from the directors original 3+ hour version are deep though. It’s nonsensical at times and the jumps can be jarring.
I like to compare this to Blade Runner.…

The Living Dead at Manchester Morgue 1974
Hard to find words to describe this film. It feels unique amongst zombie films because it feels like such an amalgamation. It feels like Romero and Fulchi, with a hint of Argento.
Great tone, sets, and location. Some are critical of how slow it is in t he e first act. I think it’s great. There’s a real sense of impending doom that just never lets up. The ending was great. Phenomenal film for those that like the idea of a gothic zombie film.
