The Gang's All Here 1943
Berkeley not yet hitting his stride although obviously some great sequences, especially the psychedelic finale. Just doesn't quite hang together for me. Nice to see Benny Goodman and his orchestra on fine form though.

The Sorcerers 1967
A bonkers but brilliant b-movie with a demented Catherine Lacey leading all who cross her path (especially her frail professor husband Boris Karloff) down a coercive road to destruction. Don't mess with science is what the film says. A grimy swinging sixties London is filmed imaginatively by DoP Stanley Long and director Michael Reeves.

Blue Is the Warmest Color 2013
A deep character study of love and loss. The film has stayed and grown with me in the few days since watching. Performances are great but so are the changing rhythms of the film. Not sure if it's Palme D'Or worthy but if the award is primarily for recognising films that provoke debate then its choice is beyond reproach.
