I'm loathe to get all precious over the Raimi trilogy but JESUS, rewatching them before this was a mistake 'cos it made it impossible to ignore how shallow it all is.
One moment with Andrew Garfield nearly got me in the feels, I have to admit, but that's because The Amazing Spider-Man 2 - which is unfairly maligned, imo - did the heavy lifting before it.
