An existential comedy about old dudes not letting go through the prism of baseball. I love it.

Minari 2020
Seen this twice, first time at Sundance and again yesterday for a special online awards screening. The film is not what I would normally consider my kind of movie. It leans heavy on cuteness and nostalgia but somehow it charms prove irresistible. I think because it strives for authenticity and avoids being overly cloying. It moves naturally and gracefully through a story that is quotidian and familiar but because it is about a first generation Korean family in Arkansas of all places it is also singular. This is the kind of crowd pleaser I’m not ashamed to like!
