Rene Russo easily without questions STEALS this movie. You know what's fun? Playing a guy designed to be the coolest person in the world. You know what's hard? Playing his female mirror image in a way that's not overcompensating or contrived. The psychologist scenes were great (shocked that Thomas would go to therapy, though his version of therapy is pretty combative, with his therapist laughing her ass off in his face). All of the art references are so entertainingly woven into the story--the Dogs Playing Poker fuck you, the Magritte painting heist. Also really makes me want to do that sailing.

Going in with post-Oscars expectations, the movie still delivered and has all the components to be a future classic. It's got a big Robert Altman feel to it (thinking about The Long Goodbye, California Split especially), with the naturalism in a gritty setting, the humor, the part-caper/part-drama ratio, and eclectic and memorable side characters: Toros was fantastic dare I say carrying at times, Igor roils for most of the movie, quietly playing our eyes into this world until he cranks…
