Shayda captures a raw, sad and unfortunately common story of the struggles faced in immigration, divorce, cultural toxicity and domestic abuse through the eyes of a Persian woman with her young daughter navigating life in Australia while settling an uncomfortable divorce.
This film was intimate and emotional, and I was particularly teary in the scene of a group of migrant women sharing a single happy moment dancing to Persian music, despite their daily discomforts and trauma experienced.
A beautiful homage to the strength of women and mothers, fighting for a good life for themselves and their children.
