    The Brutalist

    ★★★★

The term Brutalism is derived from the French "béton brut", which literally means "raw concrete". Concrete characterizes the constructions of this architectural style, which experienced its heyday from the 1950s onwards.
But in a broader sense, it alludes to Tóth's encounter with his future patron and his new world. Monumental, real and blunt, the film unfolds a fictional story that tells of the complexity of life. In the end, the question arises as to whether the path really is the destination or perhaps only the destination is the destination.

How does it feel? How much is real?

A complete unknown is for sure a complete Hollywood Bob Dylan biopic, but somehow you may find still pure Dylan at its core. And yes, director James Mangold is taking a lot of liberties in terms of a condensation of timelines, the conjoining of separate incidents, fictional character names and moments of sheer imagination and fictionalization, but it is quite entertaining. Sure, some will questioning how on earth did Dylan approve this, did…

The first few episodes started ok but then it  went rapidly downhill, climaxing into the worst episode ever, which consists only of crazy dream sequences.

Retro vibes with a high feel-good factor!
The Holdovers impresses with a great melancholic mood, lots of funny moments and first-class performances from the main actors. Under Payne's loving direction and based on a script by David Hemingson, they make this snowy Christmas school story a very special masterpiece and my new favorite Christmas movie of all times. (right up there with “Family Stone” and “Die hard”)
