  'Queer' is a film that promises so much yet delivers so little. On paper (I haven’t read the book, but I can imagine it delves deeper in the themes the film tries to explore), the idea of focusing on an older queer man’s spiralling journey into unfulfilled desire, displacement, and self-loathing should be rich with emotional and thematic potential.
