"We have The Favourite at home"
The Favourite at home:
Definitely a fun watch but left me wishing for a bit more substance in the characterisation
This was nice and I was very touched by the ending showing all the kids at the NGO watching it together.
Unfortunately though, it felt pretty paint-by-numbers which I do think is partly due to the whole 'white American guy makes a film about poverty and feminism in a developing country' thing. If this gets picked up to be developed into a feature with a director who can give some more nuance and depth, I would love to watch it.
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
Came a bit late to the party so had already heard all about how shocking it is and then it just... wasn't.
Full star for the final scene though bc that's EXACTLY what I would do if I finally came into full ownership of a lofty estate after years of evil scheming
