I love musicals but, man, this movie is like 75% singing, 25% story. It feels more like a Broadway musical caught on film. Relationships are established so unbelievably fast in this movie.

And as a heads up, Marilyn Monroe gets third billing in this movie and doesn't show up until about 30 minutes into the movie, then disappears and returns about 25 minutes later. I say this because she is literally the ONLY actor on the cover of my blu-ray.…

I’m in the minority here but it just felt like something was missing with this one. The cast and directing were solid, cinematography looked good…lots of halos around anything that gave off light, but I feel it was the pace. It had an odd pace. Everyone just seems so unhappy even when they were happy. Only the charismatic character of Freddie Smalls played by Tom Burke popped when he was on screen. Others felt so chill, too chill at times.…

I really enjoyed this movie. I saw this as a double feature after I watched Mickey 17. And with Mickey being 2hr17min and this being only 1hr33min, I found myself more engaged and emotionally invested in every character. The tension was thick supported by fantastic acting, directing, cinematography, music and perfect pace. And it was based on a true story. I do NOT ever want to be a deep sea diver, this film has convinced me of that. I love…

I love Ke Huy Quan so it hurts to say that this movie just fell so flat for me. They tried having interesting characters like in Bullet Train but it lacked any exceptional writing to make you love them. Ke was the best thing in it and had some good fight scenes but it’s not enough to save this movie. The comedy falls flat many times. And the villain’s obsession with Boba drinks was so one note and annoying. And the sweetest character in the film is unnecessarily killed and provided no real emotional weight to the film. Let’s give this Oscar winner better material.
