Paddington in Peru 2024
The absence of Paul King and Sally Hawkins is definitely felt. There’s a lack of ~whimsy~ that the first two had that feels missing here. With that said, the core story is a great conclusion to the Paddington series and Antonio Banderas and Olivia Coleman are clearly having fun. I also really like the continued evolution of the Brown children.

Longlegs 2024
First 2/3s of this movie are genuine perfection. The atmosphere and mythology-building was 100% on point. Maika Monroe is phenomenal as a supernaturally gifted detective who’s relatable socially awkward and it’s clear Nicolas Cage is having fun as this creepy T-Rex/glam rock obsessed devil worshipper. But once the ~twist~ happens, everything kinda rushes towards the end. I didn’t mind the twist and actually really love the idea of how it relates to parental protection and obsession with keeping their children as “children” but the rush to wrap things up doesn’t allow the themes to breathe any longer.

Thanksgiving 2023
Not even Patrick Dempsey’s terrible Boston accent can sour this absolute feast of gore.
Between the cheesy one-liners, the creative kills, and an absolutely killer opening, this movie makes for a great Thanksgiving watch.
