Bong Joon-Ho's follow up to the sublime Parasite boasts stunning production design, great effects, a fine story and wildly variable acting. Mickey 17 is a tonally confused, poorly paced sci-fi romantic black comedy, and when everything about the film is so excessive, be it Pattinson's solid dual role (featuring a bizarre Steve Buscemi impression) or Ruffalo's hammy Trump impression, it says a lot that the most memorable part is Tim Key in a pigeon costume.
