While everyone gives decent performances, and there are a few fun action scenes, this movie plays out in a relatively uninteresting way. I was disappointed that they didn’t lean into the mysterious political thriller angle that the trailer implied. Nothing surprised me since they had already given away the 3rd act reveal in the trailer. So overall, a disappointing use of top notch actors and storyline.

I REALLY liked the first Shazam, and I thought this was a worthy follow-up with fun jokes and a decent amount of heart. Unfortunately, this movie was mostly dead on arrival for a multitude of reasons, very few that I thought had to do with the quality of the film. I’m not sure if critics just have superhero fatigue and aren’t Zachary Levi fans, but the first movie got a 90% on rotten tomatoes and this one wasn’t even fresh.…
