Didnt rewatch. I have learned that this film is less impressive if you know more classic body horror, a genre I shied away from due to traumas or whatever before this.
I am forced to give it 2 stars for the extremity being dialectical, which viewers who see only old critical theories like male gaze and french extremity mistake for two unrelated strikes. They’ve lost the plot, literally.

On reflection, I was only caught off guard because of my lack of sophistication in the subgenre. A nasty piece of work, far too proud of itself, revealing of serious woman-issues that play way too big due to the utter lack of respect this shit has for the audience.
A true watch-and-punt. Ribisi is utterly competent, Fitzgerald and Gallner are absolute stars, but this script is a slimy toad in search of a swamp.

Dropped half a star on reflection because the denouement with the mom feels a little rushed, actually. Otherwise, perfection, the film that proves my point that most comedies would benefit from showing us explicitly and precisely how the protags fuck.
