This time, I saw it in French. They translated "dropheads" as "collyromanes", which sent me down a rabbit hole. The riddles were also cleverly translated.
I'm watching it in Spanish now, LOL

Re-released in theaters, and I was thrilled to watch it again, decked out like a complete degenerate in Battinson logo baseball cap and tee. Noticed a few new details... the first sequence, in particular, is so satisfyingly stocked with set-ups and stage settings. Just splendid. A couple parts did drag this time, but I was sleepy and stoned, and there was so much to make up for them. I finally, finally got to experience the car chase again—kino! Gonna be framing the promotional poster.
This was great from start to finish. This film is one continuous shot for an hour, with only one or two moments where I felt briefly taken away from the experience or even thought about the camera. A perfect interweaving of four friends' lives in one house. What an ending. You can watch it for free at Joel Haver's YouTube channel: youtu.be/s-EVhCMV9N4?si=tsyAQdBZfTxlO8tg
Inspired by this movie, I recently decided to read a bunch of highly acclaimed Batman comics, beginning with those that are said to have most influenced the filmmakers. First off, the comics are awesome and I'm officially a Batman fan--at least of the version of him I read, but, more to the point, knowing the movie so well enhanced the reading experience, just as having read the comics enhanced this latest rewatch.
This movie simply rules. I still rewatch it…
