Pretty good!
Didn’t expect much, but this features more movie stars than I anticipated. Jeremy Renner, Rose Byrne, Robert Carlyle, all heavy hitters I was happy to see. The majority of the movie is above average, but that opening scene fucking rocked. Heard rumors that Danny Boyle directed that scene and it shows. Cannot speak highly enough about Nickel Boys. The use of POV may take some getting used to, as it did for me, but this is one of the strongest artistic endeavors of 2024. A feat of adaptation, RaMell Ross absolutely makes a name for himself with his first proper feature.
