The Banshees of Inisherin 2022
Some pretty interesting themes to explore concerning conflict,mortality, family, expatriates, loneliness, the self destructive nature and (outward looking) absurdity of conflicts surrounding irish identity, family, etc., but ultimately felt the film didn't flesh out any of these themes in a meaningful or consistent way.
For example the role of the Catholic church in 20th century (and contemporary) Ireland was almost interesting and engaging but ultimately functioned as a comedic subplot which had little to say about the lack of spiritual…

Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood 2019
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
It's better than I remember...
I watched it years ago not understanding the context, so I was pretty confused by it all, especially the ending.
Today I think the film beautifully pays homage to the spirit of the golden age of hollywood.
I also would also interpret the ending as a kind of revenge against Manson. The man who is arguably responsible for the death of that age, and the death of the "hippy."
Strange times in America and this film encapsulates it so well.
