  Sundance Film Festival 2025 - Film #9

  Absolutely shattered all expectations I had, even with a synopsis as vague and non-descriptive as it had. 

  Tonally unlike anything I’ve ever seen, it was juggling humor with tragedy with tension like a goddamn circus clown. It’s weird how funny and scary a film can feel. Score was used sparingly, whenever appropriate, and almost gave a serenity to the film that can exist without being strapped to the clear and poignant tragedy. Also, Eva Victor fucking DESTROYED it, oh my god. Completely blown away.

  “Infamously Sonic Movie-detesting Chungunder feels mixed on Sonic the Hedgehog 3! Who would’ve thought!”

  I cannot comprehend my thoughts on this film both by it’s own merits and as an adaptation of Sonic Adventure 2 through only text. If I detach my expectations going into this as an adaptation (Which I hold as a completely reasonable thing to expect going into adaptations), I find myself incredibly conflicted with certain writing choices and structural flaws.
