PTA is one of my favorite directors, and I’ve seen nearly all of his films. It turned out to be a good decision to watch almost all of his other films before finally watching Hard Eight.

There is a lot in here where we see the flashes of greatness. It’s like watching a great rookie QB. You recognize that they’re playing really well right now, but you know that they’re not even close to what they will be. Hard Eight…

Forgot to log this, but watched last week with Rylie. Wanted to finally watch this after seeing a lot of comparisons, commentary wise, to Mickey 17. I had a good time with Mickey 17, but this is definitely a better movie. Great world building and there are actual stakes for our characters. It subverts your expectations in a good way. High level sci-fi imo with great performances.

Last thing: This is most definitely the sequel to Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. 4/5.

Flashy and sleek lil thriller. I loved the way pretty much every frame looked. Very simple but effective plot. You’re left both wanting more, while also fairly satisfied. It’s a little rushed, but I think another rewatch will do it some good. Fun commentary on relationships! 4/5.

As I said in my last review, Memories of Murder, I’ve only seen 2 of his films. Both are incredible and get their point across well. They’re focused. Mickey 17 feels like it’s narrating on love and changes we go through but also criticisms on corporations and their treatment of employees,…
