THE RETURN OF THE FUCKING KING
Additional thoughts: First of all, the Medicine Seller is so hot and so badass. I should just fill every slot of my four favorites with this movie poster so his face is everywhere. The animation style is enrapturing, almost overwhelming, and quite unique (as far as what I’ve seen). And beyond the thrilling action, I love how the Form, Truth, and Reason of the mononoke, which the Medicine Seller must seek, set the framework for a moving, personal story. Edo-period Japan has rarely been so gorgeously haunted!

Baby, you're lookin' mighty good when you're truckin' with me
Keep on truckin', mama, my blues away
I fucking love that after Mance didn’t make it home one night for dinner, Elnora NEVER ate at the table again for like 50 years. That is some Count of Monte Cristo levels of grudge. “From this day on everybody got to eat for theirself.”
This is a beautiful little documentary. The sequence about 30 minutes in set to “Keep On Truckin’” with the kids dancing and the hill and sky made me tear up.
