Pretty enjoyable flick. These men are irresponsible, misogynistic jackasses, and it's easy to root for their comeuppance. Though it would be a little better with martial arts and repeated use of the word "bitch" in the script...

Austin Kleon has a fun, short little book called Steal Like an Artist. He encourages the reader to accept that there are nearly no original ideas, and once one "steals" an idea for their own, it will likely be so filtered through one's…

And this is why Sam Shepard was Sam Shepard.

I'm not really a Godzilla guy, apart from a cultural appreciation, and I'm kind of envious for those who will be enjoying the Godzilla fest happening at the Music Box Theater this month. But maybe the tides have turned. I didn't realize it could be possible for me to be this invested in a Godzilla movie. I really loved this. Like, whoa. If this team is involved in the future of Godzilla flicks, I'll be there opening weekends.

In Room to Dream (HIGHLY recommended, by the way, especially the audio book read by Lynch), DL tells a story about how he couldn't get the audio for Eraserhead up loud enough at one of its initial screenings. After seeing this on the big screen, I get his frustration. I've seen Eraserhead about five or six times, but this time the audio blew me away.

Despite it being absolutely uncomfortable to experience, Eraserhead is probably as influential to my psyche as Star Wars. I could write it a 400-page love letter. I wouldn't change a thing about it.
