Mark of the Witch 1970
I'm tempted to say this is a "so bad it's ejoyable" movie, but honestly, this just leans into its niche so hard that I don't want to disparage it at all. Maybe it was the gummy, but I had a lot of fun; and nobody can say these actors aren't 100% committed to this story. Paris, Texas 1984
And this is why Sam Shepard was Sam Shepard.
I'm not sure why I sat on this for so long, but I'm glad to have finally seen this. Film can teach empathy. I truly believe that.

Eraserhead 1977
In Room to Dream (HIGHLY recommended, by the way, especially the audio book read by Lynch), DL tells a story about how he couldn't get the audio for Eraserhead up loud enough at one of its initial screenings. After seeing this on the big screen, I get his frustration. I've seen Eraserhead about five or six times, but this time the audio blew me away.
Despite it being absolutely uncomfortable to experience, Eraserhead is probably as influential to my psyche as Star Wars. I could write it a 400-page love letter. I wouldn't change a thing about it.
