Just saw Mickey 17 with the girlfriend. When the debt collectors get ‘em and they’re in the diner, I immediately recognized the track being played. I turned to the missus and said, “That’s ‘Terra Lontana’ by Nino Rota, from the score of Rocco and His Brothers.” It’s been a big few years for the score of Rocco and His Brothers, ya know? First, it gets used in S1 of The Bear (as a “brother” motif, ha ha). Now this. ‘Lil Nino Rota finally having his moment.

Manoel’s Destinies 1984
One of the most magical things I’ve seen in ages. It captured the same wonder and beauty and childlike imagination (and at times darkness) of a Miyazaki movie.

The Young Girls of Rochefort 1967
Always delightful to rewatch, I’ll continue to hum music from this until I die.
I love that Maxence is so pleased with his “immi-Nantes” pun that he uses it on everyone he meets (relatable, and it is a great pun)… which also means we get to see how each other character would react to such a pun. Solange’s “Jules et Jim” quip is a banger.
Just the best, ahhhh
