    Existentialism on the high seas. Arguably the two best artists in their respective crafts, Toland and Ford manufacture such an incredible atmosphere and mood. The deep focus black and white photography is imbued with immaculate, detailed and precise staging. The manner in which Toland’s profound and chiaroscuro photography complements and deepens Ford’s trademark American humanism is truly special.
