    This is less of a movie you sit down and watch with rapt attention — it’s designed to be enjoyed in the background while folding laundry, or carving pumpkins on an autumn night.

    It’s not a story wrapped in a nostalgic guise or setting — it IS the setting.

    Still fun as ever, but I think the meta schtick of the sequels can leave us noseblind to just how smart the original is.

    Between this and ‘New Nightmare’, Wes had some congruent self-reflections to tease out through his work.
