I've been wanting to rewatch this one on a New Year's night for a couple of years now, and finally got to do it. It's such a beautiful film, full of detachment but still conveying so much emotion. Going through the existential journey with Lena has been a therapeutic and a strangely hopeful experience.

Fairytale 2022
One of those rare occasions where you start watching the film and almost immediately recognize that the director is working, like, on a completely different plane of perception. So you try to adjust to the challenge, but the gap seems to be too big, and in the end you're kind of left wondering whether you're too dumb for this stuff.
However, from the audio-visual point of view Fairytale is insane in a good way, I was entranced the whole time. There's something very pure in Sokurov's way of showing us moving images, lights and shadows.
Will definitely revisit this one.

For sure, it's a very niche film. It doesn't tell any grand story, and it doesn't try to educate or introduce the viewer to a certain music subculture. It's mostly about people who come across death in various forms, and it mainly revolves around the death of Dmitry Vasilyev,…

Little Fish 2020
Even better on rewatch. Also, what a performance by Raúl Castillo, he's the hidden MVP here.
