Funny, entertaining, cool to look at, a conversation starter for sure, but ultimately an incomplete piece.
The first half feels like it's a satire on how corporations exploit the working class with side dish of philosophical musings on what it means to be human and alive, while second half evolves into a story about a Trump character bringing Manifest Destiny to space.
And while this isn't new to Bong Joon-Ho (he tends to complicate his narratives with these second-half developments…

Visually? It's TOO TWITCHY. F*ckin' headache!
For the bulk of the action sequences, I couldn't tell what the f*ck was going on. You have 3 or 4 characters rendered in 3 or 4 different art styles jumping/flying/swinging/fighting with no clear sense of which way is up or down because all these characters are arachnid and sh*t. F*ckin' headache!
But that's nothing compared to the frustration of this half-assed narrative.
