The Exception 2016
Jai and Lily forever. Holy shit. They have next level chemistry in this smart romantic thriller taking place in a disarmingly blasé and casual Nazi home. Jai gives the best performance I've ever seen from him, and Lily James, who's been great in everything I've seen her in, gives a profoundly resilient performance as someone not entirely easy to gauge, yet nonetheless immediately empathetic.
(Yes, they both get naked as heck in this movie)

Maudie 2016
No movie has ever been more slimily and calculatedly produced for the 50-70 crowd than this shameless Oscar bait garbage. Ethan Hawke putting on his worst "simple jack light" accent with poor Sally Hawkins being asked do whatever miserable shit she was doing was absolutely painful to get through. I had to leave the theater after about an hour. Usually I don't feel comfortable leaving a review or star rating for a film I didn't finish watching, but I feel 100000000 percent comfortable doing it with this filth. Shame on this movie. Shame.
