Ace Attorney 2012
Still one of the driest takes on the Ace Attorney franchise, but I’ve always been slightly enamoured over the ridiculous 360-degree shots and pans that underscore the heavily abbreviated narrative. There are some interesting updates to the narrative that hint at the DS case Rise from the Ashes, though generally speaking the omissions (including the more sparse use of score cues) are felt, and felt heavily.
Having said that, Miike is still having fun with this film’s premise, enough to say it’s honestly one of the better video game adaptations out there. I’d still watch this again over Detective Pikachu.
