I wouldn’t have normally watched this movie. But we’re seeing a live recording of How Did This Get Made that will poke holes in it. Not nearly as bad as I expected. Aaron Taylor-Johnson gave a better performance than the film deserved. As with too many movies these days, Kraven ran at least 20 minutes too long, and the plot was overstuffed with villains to set up the now certain never-to-happen sequel. Imbibe your substance of choice and enjoy making fun of the often-incomprehensible accents and passable CGI.

Doesn’t stick the landing but does have a tense Hitchcockian feel that kept me invested. Hugh Grant again proves he plays a smarmy bastard better than almost anyone working today.

Imagine a murderous Rube Goldberg as the Grim Reaper, and you’ll understand the demented charms of this movie. One moment, you’ll be cringing at the gore, the next, you’ll be chuckling at a sight gag. A perfect gem of humorous horror.

Passable, if muddled, sci-fi romance that borrows liberally from Annihilation and (at least at the end) The Bourne Identity. The chemistry between Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy salvages the underwritten romantic subplot.
