not to be boom boom core but there's honestly nothing more chic than taking a call on a *wired* telephone in a convertible, bandana and sunnies pressed tightly to your head

frances fisher i thought i knew your game from titanic and your oscar campaign-running capabilities but i did not truly know your game until this

let this film through sheer documentation aggressively zap any notion of "it’s complicated" propaganda when it comes to israel’s occupation of palestine and/or sustain outsider understanding of the reality of palestinian life that's constantly being erased and maybe it’s done its job, but how it compels as cinematic and humane and enraging and moving art whose consummate impact with greater viewer accessibility could be boundless in the way that any art can be, particularly documentary?

love this era of queer indie flicks. a cache of classic 90s lesbian woc relationships right up there with the watermelon woman, but its indian-american specificity feels like a rare treat to witness

keeping in mind it's a product of its time, if there were ever a remake or sequel i'd challenge to update the girlfriend to be non-white (something that still plagues depictions of queer woc relationships today, not just here)—just a thought :)
