On a scale of 1 to 5, I rate this movie an 11. This movie is just perfect. Bob Fosse was next level genius and Roy Scheider is perfection.

Desert Fury 1947
This was listed on the Criterion Channel under “Queer Noir,” and saw something somewhere as this being the gayest noir ever?! So, had to check it out! This is kind of over the top melodrama, (so much slapping!) with some over the top acting, but have to give it 4 stars for total entertainment value.

Ordinary People 1980
Sometimes you watch movies from the past that you loved, and realize they are quite cringy. Other times you rewatch something and appreciate it even more for being ahead of its time. (In this instance, mental health). I have family members that still mock therapy as self-indulgent sissy stuff. Rewatched this for Donald Sutherland, but got impressed with how relevant this still is.

Better Man 2024
A biopic starring a cgi monkey? I thought it was bizarre and totally distracting. Someone I was at the screening with thought it was amazing and totally fresh - but I feel like if you need to make the star a cgi monkey to make it fresh, you already know you are struggling with your storytelling, and already know the story is one that has been told a million times before. And how am I supposed to connect with this monkey? On the flip side, tight dance numbers, and I thought the father stood out (Steve Pemberton).
