  Justice Smith as a 50 year old with gray hair is maybe one of the most unintentionally funny moments I’ve ever had the pleasure of witnessing.

  Low budget teasing in the 3rd act aside, this was an amazing rollercoaster of emotion, memory and nostalgia. 

  It has all the requisite references - Limp Bizkit, Cocteau Twins, The Adventures of Pete & Pete, Fruitopia vending machines, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Bill Clinton playing the saxamaphone.

  RIYL pretty people talking tennis during sex.
  Otherwise, this is arguably the most critically overrated film of 2024. 
  Yes, the score is killer and the cinematography is innovative. But the plot is an elevated A24 take on a USA-Up-All-Night script. 
  Yes, it’s definitely more progressive than the average 90s skinemax fare. But pedigree alone does not a good movie  make.

  At this point, if Justin Long shows up in your movie, it’s a given you automatically already know that something creepy & horrible is about to go down.

  Also, once you realize the setting is Detroit, everything starts to seem waaayyy more plausible.

The sheer amount of anxiety it gave me, the number of groans I uttered at how upset I felt is difficult to quantify.
