Very beautiful, great performances, but felt lacking in content. Box-ticking the requirements for a “great movie” but without personal touch. The most enjoyable reading i have is “architecture-as-cinema,” where every critique of the movie can be turned around with “yes, but that’s true of the fuck-ass concrete building too.” Maybe every bad thing was on purpose!
I think i agree with other critics that the treatment of zionism is strategically ambiguous. Which feels absolutely inadequate for the moment. Zone of Interest did it better.
