A film full of good-looking livestock!
Hawks is the goddamn MAESTRO. He creates something genre-establishing and genre-defying; hyper masculine and homoerotic.
Montgomery Clift and John Ireland (admiring each other's guns lol) are gorgeous. John Wayne aces it as half-villain. Walter Brennan is so loveable. Joanne Dru is another Hawksian female character with agency who tells the men to stop being stupid. The ending makes no sense but I just went along with everything.
