I respect the scale of it, but it just lacks humanity and soul… it’s pessimistic and narrow-minded. it feels like a machine wrote and shot it. there’s not one moment of joy, no spark (besides the ones on the poster). I know every movie doesn’t have to have those things, but this was just dark all the way through, only portraying the worst in humans, and was about 3h30 of just dull, bland, flat… just like his damn concrete. not…

I’ve never watched a movie quite like aftersun
it’s like charlotte wells superimposes two different realities. like the movies has two layers, the first one being so pure and insanely beautiful, in which every single shot, sound and transition is so pleasing to look at, or hear, and delightful to feel, whilst the second one, present all along but actually breaking through the surface at intervals, is dark and unsettling and so very honest.
