I’ve seen things you people wouldn’t believe.
I’ve seen something so bad it transcends badness. I’ve seen the nature of suffering, distilled into 138 minutes of agonising celluloid. I’ve seen Shia LaBeouf acting so bizarre it felt like a fever dream, challenging the very limits of my sanity. I’ve seen the death of hope in the eyes of the audience.
All those moments—the naive hope that this film might actually be good—will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to question my film choices.

Each frame in The Taste of Things translates the act of cooking to a profound dialect of care, a language spoken in the hush of steam and the crackle of spices.
Trần Anh Hùng draws the viewers to lean in closer, to observe the subtleties and complexities of preparing food; inviting us to look and recognise the poetry in the mundane. In every meal shown, there seems to be a universe of emotions spoken in the silent language of the protagonists craft, where we feel and taste the bittersweet, spicy, and fleeting flavours of life itself.
