No, thank you. One of my favorite books brought to life poorly. Ben Wheatley is a talent, no doubt, but I don’t think he ought to have been handed this material. I am not biased because I think the Hitchcock telling is incredible, I was all about seeing the story brought to life again— it was just…cheapened somehow. The score seems out of place, and too loud, in many scenes. It seemed like a made for tv movie, and not in a flattering or charming way. All of the haunting mystery has become far too glossy.
