  Truly an achievement in cinematography. 1917 brings you directly into the trenches of WW1, and you won’t be able to look away during any part of the journey. Large-scale set pieces create a movie where the scope is vast, but the direction keeps it all intimate at the same time.

  Brooding, intense war thriller with amazing sound design and even better atmosphere. Like every other Christopher Nolan movie, the soundtrack rocks. There isn’t a lot of depth to the characters but this is a unique case where that isn’t much of a requirement.

Yes it’s a horror movie set in an abandoned insane asylum, yes it’s about a group of friends who spend more time in there than they should, but this movie brings some subtle scares and a narrative that sets it apart from others in the genre.
