  After letting this film sit with me for a couple of days I feel like talking about it again. I guess that means it was good! Despite a 3 star rating I do think this is one of the better adaptations/remakes/reimaginings of Dracula. Needless to say it’s gorgeous. My partner and I have different opinions on the camerawork and dreamlike editing of the first half. I like how disorienting it all feels, and really forces you on the same dreadful…

  First time I saw this was on a dvd 3-pack of classic horror movies. It was introduced by David Carradine and the soundtrack was all Type O Negative songs. It was sick as hell.

  Possibly the greatest slasher film of all time. A melancholic and often profoundly disturbing deconstruction of the subgenre which doesn't relish in its violence, but instead obscures it. The camera winces and trembles, darting from one grizzly image to the next with panic. The more I watch this movie, the less there is to enjoy. This time it felt like a really miserable experience, which understandably is not for everyone, and probably contributes to the majority of peoples' negative opinions…
