Despite its technical acrobatics and painstaking organisation/orchestration, Adolescence doesn’t do much else. The main theme here is control, whether that’s between a parent/child, school/student, psychologist/patient, government/citizen, male/female. However, I didn’t feel like it explored any of this with enough depth to warrant a rave review.
The first two episodes were a little dull and I didn’t feel the one-take form helped. The one-take stuff really feels like a gimmick throughout and I don’t understand how the form serves the show.…
