  I think my perspective on this film is a bit warped from having consumed a year's worth of The Whale-themed brainrot after this came out. That said, I can see why the memes took off. I think Aronofsky's goal was for the over-the-top fat guy gags (he literally chokes on a meatball sub in one scene) to contrast with The Whale's tortured path to redemption.   The worms were groundbreaking. The worm who wormed up to Tim Cham and was like "Hey, I think you're Lisan al-Gaib!" stole the show. Can't believe the other worm was kind enough to let everyone safely get out of the spice extraction machine before busting into worm mode. Wormtacular.
