    Some very effective jump scares and a grisly, dark undertone make this stand above a few other haunted isolated cabin horror films.

    I think there are some really interesting discussions of trauma, grief and religion here, but the film holds back a bit too much to make any of them tangible enough to be satisfying.

    So much of this was really good, loved the aesthetic, loved the build-up, the characters were great… for me the “ad-break scenes” were where it lost me. Every time it switched to those and to a more classic filming style, it took me out of the moment - it can’t be a found footage/lost show tape, if you have these random docu scenes where the person filming is unclear. They removed so much of the tension for me.

    Had great potential and a solid leading performance but not as good as it could’ve been for me.
