From a technical standpoint, this movie really worked for me. Everything from the cinematography, score, production design, etc helped establish a really cool tone and vibe that the film was able to sustain throughout. You can tell the budget is low, but it almost works in favor of the film. The story, however, holds it back. They do some interesting stuff with it, but, ultimately, it's pretty standard horror, sci-fi fare. Don't get me wrong, I like standard horror, sci-fi fare, but I felt like they could've done more, especially with the slower pacing of the first two acts.

I do respect the filmmaking here. The one take style works and is well done. That said, there is absolutely no character or plot to grab onto, which left the experience feeling incredibly empty. Also, there's a shift in perspectives, and the character we begin to follow was so grating to watch. Not that I was particularly enjoying it to that point, but it tanked from that point on.

The second act is like if Bong Joon Ho dropped some Mentos in your glass and it explodes all over you.

The third act is like if Bong Joon Ho dunked your head in a bucket of Coke and mentos.

I understand that I'm gonna be in the minority, and it brings me no pleasure to say that I really didn't…

This is definitely the film where you can feel the shift in the franchise. It maintains some of what worked before, but you see the signs of the downfall to come. I still don't like the way this just transitions from cast to cast by killing the Dream Warriors and then dumping a new group on us. It makes it nearly impossible to care about any of them. I understand that's not exactly an expectation for the genre, but it's…
